We Are
New England Public Media

#SomosNEPM

In 2019, our region’s major public media organizations, WGBY Public Television and New England Public Radio (WFCR and the NEPR News Network), merged to become New England Public Media. NEPM is already having a transformational impact on our dynamic and diverse community as we confront profound challenges to our region’s health and economy. By integrating television, radio, video, audio, digital and social media under one roof, we are better positioned to discover and tell the stories that matter to the people of western New England—in politics, news, arts, education, culture, and more.

Through New Voices we will become even more deeply engaged with the communities we serve which will inform our programming content. We will significantly expand our focus on young people through internships, workshops, trainings and partnerships. These efforts will build the technical and critical thinking skills needed to give voice to new ideas in an increasingly digital world.

Matching a Major Investment

As part of the creation of NEPM, the WGBH Educational Foundation, Inc. committed to a lead investment of $6 million— the largest in regional public media history—with the understanding that this gift would be used by NEPM to leverage $6 million in additional philanthropic commitments from local NEPM supporters. This is our matching campaign challenge.
In addition, we will raise $600,000 to create a brand new fully-equipped community engagement and education space at 44 Hampden Street. We also seek an additional $1 million for a strategic multi-genre Music Endowment, including our core Classical and Jazz programming. Combined, these funds will provide the base of support to sustain NEPM fully into the digital age and provide the people of western New England with comprehensive, responsible news reporting, diverse cultural events and initiatives, inclusive educational services, and broadly accessible community engagement opportunities.

Together, with your support, we can make this essential transformation a complete success.

Bold Campaign Goals

Financially NEPM seeks to leverage
the WGBH $6 million investment and
raise an additional $7.95 million:

$600,000 from the community
for a new fully equipped
community space.

$1 million to provide a permanent
endowment for Classical, Jazz,
and other musical genres which
will attract a more diverse and a
younger audience.

$6 million from the community in
gifts and pledges large and small
to build our capacity in journalism,
education, digital content,
community engagement,
multicultural programming, and
equipment for a new multi-platform
news program.
