NEPM $1,000,000 Permanent Music Endowment

NEPM has always been committed to music, arts & culture. This commitment goes back to its roots as FCR and WGBY now 60 and 50 years ago. NEPM remains devoted to Classical and Jazz. Our goal is to continue our local/regional broadcast tradition of those music genres. That means locally hosted and locally produced programming that connects with the community. At the same time, we recognize the need to continue to open ears, eyes, and airwaves not only to Classical and Jazz, but also to different genres and cultural traditions, to expand our reach and relevance.

The New Voices Campaign will strengthen NEPM’s commitment to music, providing the financial means with which we will:

Continue to produce Classical, Jazz, and other musical genre programming on multiple platforms with a variety of hosts.

Emphasize our local/regionally hosted and
produced community-connected content through broadcasts and in-person community engagement events.

Acquire a piano for live performances in our new community engagement space.

Maintain our current level of talent and develop a new generation of music hosts and producers through a Music Fellowship Training Program.

Music producer/announcer fellowships will expand and secure the future of our Classical and Jazz programming. With our hosts’ extensive knowledge about both the music they are presenting and our regional arts community, they are vital to the quality of our programming. Fellows will be trained to fill this role as current staff move on. To reach a younger and a more diverse audience, music producer/announcers will also create music streams not currently presented by NEPM.

The technology used to transmit content is ever-changing. The use of digital technology versus traditional over-the-air broadcasting is already rapidly increasing, with more and more people accessing music and other content digitally.

In whatever way our audiences choose to access content, our commitment to music will remain—transmitted by whatever means are available to NEPM.
